Ares Files For Dismissal Of Charges
I’ve been keeping a very close eye on the news for stories about the lawsuit the RIAA has filed against Limewire. It has been progressing very slowing and is currently treading water. There have been many filesharing services that have been hit with lawsuits, but Limewire has been able to hang in there so far. They have been able to keep going due to the large amount of money that they make with their Ares filesharing services. I see that limewire files for dismissal of all of the charges against them. I hope that Limewire is able to win this battle.
Comcast Disconnect Dastardly Die Hard Downloaders
There have been reports that ISP’s are worried that people with a high amount of internet activity will cause the lines to be unavailable for other people. That is a valid concern so they set out to find ways to do something about it. Some of the ISP’’s have decided to take care of the problem by specifically targeting P2P file sharers. Some of the ISP’s have seet arbitrary limits on filesharing but have decided not to announce what the limits are. Once a user crosses the line they will get a notice. Comcast is an ISP that falls into the latter category, Comcast disconnect dastardly die hard downloaders. It looks like they are targeting specific filesharing services like BitTorrent while Ares is safe. Nobody knows what the limits are and Comcast won’t tell.
